A competition secretary should be able to ask a simple question before the next busy release: what is scheduled, and what needs checking? The answer should help them prepare, without silently changing how members book.
BallChute's MCP connection gives a compatible AI assistant a limited set of club administration tools. It can inspect releases, check saved setup information, propose a schedule, preview dates and run an illustrative simulation. The club administrator stays responsible for creating the real schedule.
What does an MCP connection actually do?
The Model Context Protocol is a standard way for an AI application to work with tools and information supplied by another application. In BallChute, that means an authorised administrator can connect a compatible assistant to their own club.
It is separate from the public website's question-and-answer chat. It also does not give an assistant permission to book a member's tee time or rearrange the waiting room.
Five useful jobs before a busy booking release
1. Review the upcoming releases. Ask which retained releases and recurring schedules are recorded for your club. The assistant can summarise dates, release status and aggregate capacity, helping you spot a release that deserves a closer look.
2. Check the saved setup. Ask what needs attention before the next release. The tool reports saved service access, connection configuration and membership-refresh information. Treat this as a preparation checklist: it does not prove that a live provider connection, an email or the complete member journey is working.
3. Turn an idea into a schedule proposal. Describe the playing dates, tee-time range and when members should enter and start booking. The assistant returns a draft with assumptions and questions. Missing details still need an administrator's decision.
For example: “Draft Saturday releases for the next six weeks, covering tee times from 07:30 to 10:30. Booking should begin seven days before play at 07:00, with five minutes in the waiting room and three members choosing simultaneously. Ask me about anything else you need.”
4. Preview the dates before creating anything. Once the proposal is complete, preview it in the club's timezone. BallChute applies its normal schedule checks, including daylight-saving handling and overlaps. Read the actual dates and times: in the example above, the waiting room opens at 06:55 and booking begins at 07:00. A preview saves no schedule and reserves no tee times.
5. Explore an illustrative release. Ask the assistant to simulate 20 individual entrants on an existing release for 15 minutes. The simulation uses fictional players and saved remaining capacity in memory. It does not place real members into a queue. Its simplified arrivals and choices make it useful for discussion, not a forecast of demand or a promise about waiting times.
Keep the club in control
After reviewing a proposal, the administrator creates it through BallChute's Schedules screen and checks its preview there. This first connection offers no tools to create live schedules, change billing, book for members or send outreach.
The tools return selected operational information rather than member names, email addresses or private billing records. Each administrator connects with their own club-scoped access token, which expires after 30 days and can be replaced or revoked in Connections. Store it in your assistant client's credential settings, never in a chat prompt.
You need an MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP and custom authentication headers. Compatibility varies between clients; this is not a one-click connection available in every ChatGPT interface. The in-app connection panel and setup guidance provide the required configuration.
How this supports fairer booking
The administrative connection helps a club prepare its process. Fairer access for members still comes from the club-controlled waiting room and booking turns: members with different levels of digital confidence get time to choose an available slot for their group.
AI cannot create extra Saturday-morning capacity. Its useful role here is to help the people running the club understand their setup and review their choices before members arrive.
